A Day in Esther: Chapter 8

A Day in Esther: Chapter 8

Key Verses:

16 The Jews had light and gladness and joy and honor. 17 And in every province and in every city, wherever the king’s command and his edict reached, there was gladness and joy among the Jews, a feast and a holiday.

Central Truth:

Despite the tough situations we go through, God promises that He will triumph over evil.
“I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord. Be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord”. – Psalms 27:13-14

In Chapter 8 we see victory. Victory for Esther, for Mordecai, and for the Jewish people. We see good triumph over evil with Haman getting exactly what he deserves and the King using his power to make all things right. This morning I awoke to a difficult situation. I felt overwhelmed, like I’m fighting an unbeatable battle. Chapter 8 was a much needed reminder that God is not only my Father, he is my warrior. He fights for me on a daily basis. I am safe in His hands. And even though the future seems dire, He promises that we will see His goodness, whether in this life or the eternal life we will spend with Him in Heaven. So be encouraged. “Yet God has made everything beautiful in its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end” (Ecclesiastes 3:11). Wait for the Lord. He is coming.

Today’s Prayer:

Lord, I am powerless over my circumstances and my sinful nature wants to take control away from you and into my own hands. Please give me the wisdom and patience to be at peace, waiting on you and your perfect plan. In Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN.
